I’m thankful for my job, but sometimes grading feels like holding my breath or going for a run. You have to keep going even when you want to stop. Grading fatigue.

Spring is in Lynchburg and all of the changes that have had my mind racing over the past few months are coming together.
I know we’ve bounced all around, but we’re quite set on moving. We have been for a while. It’s all becoming more real, though, as we finish up small house projects and are a month away from putting the house on the market. Suddenly, all of the houses...
I'm going crazy for summertime
To ease the pain, I picked out Eliot’s swimsuit(s). Which do you like better? A or B? Or both?

Sometimes
Sometimes the administrative business of this dissertation gets me so worked up that I feel like I could have an anxiety explosion. I need to calm the eff down because freaking out over the small details is just causing me to avoid the things I actually need to do—and I am losing time.
Last time I looked at the clock last night: 2:00 am. The time I looked at the clock when I woke up this morning: 6:00 am.

And a $70 late fee even though we never sent a...

NEW YEAR CHALLENGE
1. Five things you have accomplished in 2011
I had a baby two weeks into the year.
I had to quit my GSA job because I got a contract as an Assistant Professor—a welcomed change. I think I taught about 20 classes in 2011. That’s kind of a lot.
I took my last two classes, passed my comprehensive exam, and am working on my dissertation. Next year at this time,...
